Job Summary: Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School seeks a School-based Clinical Counselor for the 2010-11 school year. The candidate will provide mental-health counseling to Special Education students and general education students working closely with the school’s multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The position is a full-time, 10-month position. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Note: These examples are intended only as illustration of the various types of work performed in this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
• Provide counseling (individual and group) to students that require the related service as a part of their IEP
• Participate in IEP/MDT meetings
• Support MDT team decisions and provide documentation as necessary
• Document necessary counseling services
• Provide counseling to students referred through general education
• Support Student Affairs in developing Truancy Plans and other attendance documentation
• Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings
• Collaborate with academic faculty and staff in providing supports to students Qualifications
• A strong commitment to Thurgood Marshall Academy’s mission
• Must be a licensed mental health provider (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor), able to work independently • School-based experience working with special education and general education students
• Ability to create and manage systems to track data; ability to successfully track and analyze data • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a diverse faculty • At least three years of professional experience in clinical counseling

Consult with rabbis, staff, and congregants about interpersonal and organizational issues. Provide outreach, assessments, short term counseling, workshops, and referrals to JSSA and community resources.Extensive in-house continuing education provided free of charge.

Key Job Activities: Case management for a caseload of 15 women living in Calvary's housing program. Support on-site mental health and addiction recovery services.
