2017 Call for Chapter Leadership!

 

Election time is coming and the search for leaders is on!  The Chapter Committee on Nominations and Leadership Identification (C-CNLI) is now accepting nominations for candidates.  The C-CNLI is seeking enthusiastic individuals committed to the profession, seeking to enhance their leadership abilities, and willing to be a part of the NASW DC social work community, and to work while having fun networking with other social workers.

 

As a membership driven organization, NASW DC Metro offers opportunities to develop and expand leadership skills and to be involved in a variety of levels within the governance of the association.  If you are interested in a leadership role moving NASW DC Metro forward, please consider submitting your nomination for one of the positions below.  Candidate information forms can be found by clicking HERE.

 

Members are encouraged to run even if they haven’t been involved with our chapter or leadership in the past.  Any member in good standing is eligible to submit themselves or others (with their consent) for candidacy.  The theme for Social Work Month 2017 was Social Workers Stand Up!  Now is your time to run and shape your membership association!

 

Available positions are:

 

President Elect - the President-Elect serves a one-year term before assuming the office of President; is available to work in close collaboration with the President; and, performs duties as assigned by the President.   The President is the presiding officer of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and an ex-officio member of all committees without a vote except as provided in the committee charge; represents the Board of Directors and reports to the Board of Directors all important interim actions; and, in consultation with the Board of Directors, makes all appropriate committee, task force, unit and other appointments. The President shall work collaboratively with the Executive Director and the National Office to achieve the goals of the Chapter.

 

Vice President - the Vice President fulfills the duties of the President in the event of absence or disability and assumes the presidency upon the President’s resignation or inability to discharge the office. The Vice President oversees the Chapter Diversity Plan, including the annual progress reporting; serves as the primary liaison between the Chapter Board and the executive director on the financial matters of the Chapter, including the review of the Chapter’s budget and financial reports with the Chapter Board; ensures adherence to the financial policies and practices required by the National Office or approved by the NASW National Board; and performs other duties as assigned by the President.

 

Secretary - the Secretary is responsible for the Board of Directors’ and Executive Committee’s meeting minutes, as well as for other non-fiscal records of the Chapter.

 

Member at Large - Traditionally, members-at-large have either identified special assignments based on their individual interests or have been appointed to specific assignments by the Board President. Members at Large also serve as liaisons and chairs to board created committees and are expected to attend committee meetings and/or chapter programs.

 

MSW & BSW Student Reps - the BSW & MSW Student Representatives bring issues & concerns of BSW, MSW, and PhD students to the Board of Directors and advocates in their best interest.  The student representatives also inform the chapter programming for our student members and prospective members, as well as serve as liaisons to their social work programs.  Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the President.
