Karen Douglas first became a student representative for the Board while attending Howard University. Karen has volunteered her services in many capacities within the community, including service for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Ward 7, as well as serving as field instructor for BSW/MSW for the past 10 years with Catholic University, University of Maryland, and Howard University.
Karen has also served as an associate consultant at the Youth Services Administration, as well as working with Children's National Medical Center and The District of Columbia Public Schools, where she works to promote the community school model as an exciting, highly supportive and effective approach to improving academic and social outcomes for elementary school students in the city. |

Alicia McCarthy served on the 2003 Conference Planning Committee and the Committee on Inquiry before becoming the Treasurer of the Board.
In addition to working with NASW DC Metro Chapter, Alicia currently works with the DC Department of Human Services Adult Protective Services, and assists with numerous committees in the workplace including the Continuing Education Committee and the Labor Management Partnership Council project. |

Kate Seldon was a student member of DC Metro Chapter during her first year of the MSW program at Catholic University. She was elected as MSW Student Representative for the 2004-2005 year. She also received the NASW DC Metro Chapter "Social Work Student of the Year" award before being elected as a Member at Large in 2005-2006.
She is an active participant in the NCSS-CUA Masters Student Association working with a focus on social justice issues. She has coordinated several successful community-based charity events including: drives for food banks, collection of cleaning supplies for residential housing programs and toys for children during the holidays. |

Barbara Jean Harling got her DSW in 1988 and has been an active member of the Chapter for many years. She has served in the community with NAMI, the Council on Social Work Education and Social Work Managers. She worked with the Center for Mental Health (Director of Student Training and Adult Outpatient Services) for over 30 years and currently works with Anchor Mental Health Association as Director of their Core Services Agency. She currently works for Woodley House, Inc. as Director of Clinical Services. |

Terrie Lloyd has been an NASW member since 1999 and obtained her MSW from Howard University in 2002. She participates in many community activities with the North Carolina A&T, DC Chapter Alumni Association. She has helped to organize holiday visits to area nursing homes, has participated in adopt-a-highway clean up programs in Prince Georges County and participates with area toys-for-tots Christmas gift giving. |
